In the heart of the Carneros wine appellation, set among tumbling hills with light bay breezes, are the Fotinos Brothers Vineyards. This 11 acre wine estate has the ideal microclimate for our traditional, yet progressive, style of viticulture. Our wines are a culmination of 115 years of family wine making, spanning four generations. We are committed to producing the highest quality, terroir driven Pinot Noir that is the purest expression of our vineyards. Since 1973 our family has hand crafted this wine on a private label. After 33 years of perfection, it is now available for everyone to enjoy. Salute! Tasting Notes: Tasting notes are a beautiful aroma of soft, ripe cherry, with a strong essence of plum, spice, smoke and toasty oak, with a smooth, velvety finish.
Barrel Tasting Notes: 12/11/2006 - The aromas of the wine are a mix of cherry/ plum fruit, and latent fermentation aromas of yeast and just completing malolactic bacteria of the secondary fermentation. The wine is slightly reduced, which is typical at this stage. The body of the wine is quite impressive with loads of malleable tannins, and a great mouth feel and structure. We will sulfur when fermentations are complete, allow the solids to settle, then taste again after the first racking. 2/8/2007- The previous reductive characters have disappeared as expected, and the bright cherry/ plum arromas persist. The wine has already started to pick up nuances of oak and hints of violet, which are accentuated by aging the wine on the edge between oxidative and reductive conditions. The palate continues to impress with lush chewy tannins and mouth filling body.
8/10/2007- Perfumed aromas of rose petal and violets, mingled with vibrant red raspberry and Bing cherry fruit. The palate is silky and full with a lively acid backbone and the finish is long and enduring. Tasting Notes | Chemistry | Press |
