February 2010 Celebrity Taster - Olympic Skier Daron Rahlves
2010-02-18
 About
Daron Rahlves:
Known
as the most successful U.S. male downhiller, Daron Rahlves retired after 13
years on the U.S. Alpine Ski Team following the 2006 Olympic
season. Looking to continue skiing he made a transition into big
mountain free skiing and ski cross comps. It wasn't long before Rahlves, who
had 12 World Cup wins, 28 podiums, and was the winner of the famed Hahnenkamm
Downhill in 2003, decided to get back in the gate. This time, he opted for
side-by-side mayhem with other skiers in a motocross-like event on skis.
Now it’s ski cross and it’s the newest Olympic freestyle event for Vancouver
2010.
Daron is scheduled to
compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics Games in Men’s Ski-Cross on February 21st
in Vancouver, Canada. We wish him the very best of luck!
Here's what Daron had to share with
Dr. Chris Fotinos about Fotinos Brothers 2006 Pinot Noir...
"On
Christmas '09 with family and friends we pulled the cork on your Fotinos
Brothers 2006 Pinot Noir. Prime Rib and all the fixings were laid out for
a spectacular meal and this wine topped it off! I love Pinots and this
one is very good. We decanted it for 20 minutes and then poured
away. The smooth feel was what first impressed me, and the blend of spice
and fruit is awesome. I'm looking forward to stocking our wine rack with
more! This is a wine that we will enjoy for all occasions. I take quality
over quantity, but wished we had more. The Prime Rib outlasted the Pinot
unfortunately...Not a drop was left."

January 2010 Celebrity Taster - James Gray
2010-01-20
 Award Winning
Director James Gray reviews Fotinos Brothers 2006 Pinot Noir
“When I make my famous marinara sauce (famous at least in
my own mind) I always need a little something to drink as I cook. And
usually, anything will do and usually does; and usually disappoints. The
exception occurred when I opened a bottle of Fotinos Brothers 2006 Pinot Noir.
I took a sip and was blown away. This Pinot is simply fantastic:
smooth as silk, with a real body to it and a brilliant finish. My red
sauce turned out poorly, but no matter. I massacred the marinara, but it
went down with me drinking one of the best bottles around. Fotinos
Brothers Pinot Noir is the perfect companion to a quality meal, and it’s become
a genuine hit with the crowd at my Sunday night supper parties.”
Bio:
Award winning writer/director James Gray made his first
film, "Little
Odessa", at the age of twenty-four. The film, which starred Tim Roth, Edward Furlong, Vanessa Redgrave and Maximillian
Schell, received critical acclaim and was the winner of the Venice Film
Festival's prestigious Silver Lion Award in 1994.
Miramax Films
released James Gray's second feature, "The
Yards", starring Mark Wahlbert, Joaquin Phoenix, Jaye Dunaway, Ellen Burstyn, Charlinze Theron and James Caan in fall of 2000. The
film was selected for official competition at the 2000 Cannes International
Film Festival. Prior to "The Yards" and "Little Odessa", Gray
attended film school at the University of Southern California.
Although James may not be a fabulous cook, he is a talented
force in the entertainment industry and a passionate oenophile. We are very pleased to count
him among our celebrity fans! Click here to purchase our award winning 2006 Pinot Noir

December 2009 Celebrity Taster of the Month: Actor Stephen Tobolowsky
2009-11-30
Actor Stephen Tobolowsky reviews Fotinos Brothers 2006 Pinot Noir
"I’m not a professional wine taster, but I may qualify as a very dedicated wine drinker. The 2006 Pinot sits in an enviable position in my wine solar system. It is the wine I prefer to drink after a long shoot, and I want to unwind. It has a lot of fruit but not overwhelming so I have served it with everything from Bar-B-Q tri-tip, to marinated lamb or poultry, to a late night wine and cheese plate. It ages beautifully. It always makes me happy when I see another bottle in my wine cellar. Perfect for guests, for dinner, or for watching sunsets."

2009-10-27

Actor James Gandolfini reviews Fotinos Brothers 2006 Pinot
"This fantastic Pinot Noir is one of the best I’ve ever tasted, and is certainly one of my favorite California wines. It is incredibly smooth with a great balance of lush fruit flavors and tannins with just a hint of oak, leaving a memorable finish and lasting impression. This Pinot could easily pair with a variety of foods, and the price is very reasonable for such a high quality wine!”
