July 2010 Celebrity Taster – Musician Phoenix Stone

pstone.jpg

First of all, I like to say that Fotinos Brothers pinot noir tastes like a 10,000 dollar bottle of wine!

My wife and I were recently at a dinner party and the host brought out a very expensive pinot noir that he raved about. When I tasted it, all I could think about was how much better the Fotinos Brothers pinot noir tasted… and how inexpensive it is in comparison! It pairs beautifully with a big heavy meal or just a glass after a long day.

Its so smooth with  the perfect finish…So many wines that I’ve had that are 5x the price have a harsh aftertaste but this pinot is creamy while still having a hint of cherry oak perfection.  I know I am gong on an on about this wine, but honestly I can’t recommend it enough. It’s definitely a favorite and a staple at my house.

About Phoenix Stone

With the release of this new song Stone emerges as a country singer/songwriter of real power and substance, adding yet another page to a long and varied list of career accomplishments.

Produced by James Stroud, "Proud To Be (Born Again American)" is the first single from Phoenix's new album-in-progress. Written by Stone with co-lyricist Brent Miller, it is a call to action in a troubled time, reflecting Stone’s own thoughtful patriotism and 100% of the proceeds go to Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America and Declare Yourself. Visit www.phoenixstonemusic.com to hear it.

"This is a song I’ve lived,” he says simply. “It embodies everything I believe in.”

Stone’s version of the American dream took root in a working-class family with more than its share of military veterans. He grew up in Florida listening to country music, with artists like Conway Twitty, Hank Williams Jr. and Ronnie Milsap helping to shape his taste.
“Music was the thing that was always there for me, through the good and bad,” he says. “I knew from an early age that it would play a big part in my future.” Influenced by rock as well as country, he played music in school, performed in bands as a teenager, and earned a part on a Nickelodeon series. He then made plans to study music seriously.

“It was always very important to my mom that I go to college,” he says, “because she and my dad never had the opportunity.” He earned a music scholarship to the University of South Florida at 16, but the desire to pursue a career led him to drop out and eventually move to Nashville. He worked at everything from landscaping to masonry to help put food on the table until his songwriting earned him a publishing deal with Warner Chappell. Still, he had his sights set on a country record deal.

“I went up and down Music Row,” he says, “but couldn’t even get a meeting with the labels. I would have given anything to get a meeting with James Stroud, but now that we are working together, I understand that everything happens when the time is right.”
Stone made his first real splash as a producer, working with acts including the Backstreet boys and Art Garfunkel. His talent as an artist finally led him to a deal and an album release on Universal Records.

"His involvement with the Born Again American movement, an outgrowth of Norman Lear's Declare Yourself, dedicated to increasing voter participation and civic involvement, is a stirring combination of art and citizenship. It announces Stone as a real presence on the country music scene, and adds to his reputation as one of today’s most talented artists.

September Celebrity Taster - NFL Star Shaun Phillips

“I have a passion for wine and I particularly enjoy wine paired with fine cheeses.   Something many people don’t know about me is that I graduated from Purdue University in Restaurant & Hotel Management.  I wrote my major paper to earn my degree on my favorite food...CHEESE!   I’m a cheese explorer and a cheese LOVER!   I  was visiting my friend Barrie Lynn – The Cheese Impresario on her rooftop and she opened up a bottle of Fotinos Brothers 2006 Pinot Noir.  We enjoyed this artisanal wine paired with a one of-a-kind cheese, Wisconsin’s BellaVitano.   The richness of the cheese along with it’s long finish complemented the cherry flavors in the wine.  Then as the wine opened up, the spiciness and darker fruit flavors emerged and sent the cheese pairing in a different delicious direction.  This wine gives me almost as much pleasure as sacking my favorite Quarterback.

THIS WINE IS AWESOME!!!! Those were the first words out of my mouth when I first tried this fantastic Pinot Noir with friends in Irvine, Ca. when I was home this past weekend playing a three game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. I would recommend this wine to anyone who can get their hands on it. I know that it is only available in limited quantities.

Ian Ziering Reviews Fotinos Brothers Winery 2006 Pinot Noir

IanZiering.jpg

Simply said, this is a fantastic Pinot Noir. My wife Erin and I opened this beautiful wine on two separate dinner occasions and were amazed on how versatile the wine was pairing it with beef one night and fish the other. This is a wine that you can bring to a dinner party or restaurant and be assured that it's going to pair well with almost any  meal.

When tasting the wine I got a blend of spice, fruit and a hint of oak on the nose, a great mid palate balance and a smooth, silky finish. This is truly a wonderful wine and it would be very difficult to find a better value at only $55 a bottle. I look forward to drinking the Fotinos Brothers wines for many years to come with family and friends.

"I have a new favorite color...red...Fotinos Brother's Pinot Noir to be specific.  What an impeccable glass of wine to get my creative juices flowing!  I've always been enchanted exploring new sights, sounds and taste; and wow, does this Pinot really get my senses soaring. I look forward to my indulgence, first the fruity aroma followed by the smooth, full-bodied taste.  If I could hear that tantalizing red, I immagine it would sound like Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6."

About Emma Ferreira

World-renowned artist Emma Ferreira has been a full-time contributor to the contemporary art world since 1998. In this brief time, she has come to be revered as Los Angeles' preeminent, young mixed media artist. Emma's entrepreneurial spirit allows her to use her creative gifts to support her countless philanthropic endeavors.

The results are sensually balanced, vibrantly colored photographs that exude a richness of texture and depth of creativity.

Emma takes art to the next level with her innovative production of mixed media creations. Emma travels the world in search of these trinkets to recycle and integrate into her art.

Each of Emmas works is an original; every medium is applied by her hands. The results are magnificent, inspiring, emotion-provoking images that convey the inner strength, conviction, and complexity of the artist. Emma continues to examine the abstract notions of our foundations, our teachings and our ultimate destiny through the use of color, depth, texture and their relationship to the human experience.
